Mor Ivanios Kuriakose (formerly known as Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Kolath) was born on June 9, 1964 to K.G.Abraham Kolath,Kurichy,Kottayam and Thankamma Abraham, Valiyaparambil, Veliyanad, Alappuzha. He completed his Master’s degree in Commerce (M.Com) from the Kerala University in 1989, Diploma of Divinity from M.S.O.T. Seminary, Vettickal, Kerala in 1993, Bachelor of Theology from Vidyajyothi Catholic Seminary, Delhi, in 1999 & Master Of Syriac from Mahatama Gandhi University in the year 2002.
On August 15, 1993 the former Metropolitan of the Archdiocese, H.E. Mor Clemis Abraham ordained him Kassisso (full priest) at the St. George Church, Neelamperoor. In March 2008, the Knanaya Syrian Christian Association held at Mor Aphrem Seminary in Chingavanam, Kottayam choose Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Kolath as the new auxiliary metropolitans for the archdiocese. At the time of his selection as Metropolitan Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Kolath was serving the St. Thomas Valiya Palli at Ranni. He was also the secretary of the priestly council of the Archdiocese. As per the decision of the Archdiocese, Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Kolath was raised to the order of Ramban on 26 May 2008 by H.E. Kuriakose Mor Severios, H.G. Kuriakose Mor Gregorios and Mor Koorillos Geevarghese of Niranam. The ceremony was held at St. Thomas Church (Valiya Pally), Ranni.
Mor Ivanios Kuriakose, the auxiliary bishop of the Knanaya archdiocese was elevated to high priest-hood along with Mor Silvanos Ayoub on June 11, 2008 by His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas, the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and the supreme head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church. The consecration ceremony was held at the St. Peter & St. Paul’s Patriarchal Cathedral at Ma`rrat Sayyidnaya, Damascus, Syria. H.E. Mor Severios Kuriakose (Archbishop of Knanaya Archdiocese), H.G Kuriakose Mor Gregorios, Mor Timotheos Aphrem Aboodi, Mor Theophilos George Saliba and Mor Clemis Daniel assisted His Holiness at this blessed consecration ceremony. Later Malankara Suryiani Knanaya Association elevated him as Regional Metropolitan Ranny & other states in India
Grandson of V. Rev. Geevarghese Corepiscopa, Kolath (Priest Trusty of Knanaya Samudayam) and Great grandson of Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Kolath. Ivanios Thirumeni is the 7th priest in his family. Ivanios Thirumeni is also the grandnephew of Ranni MLA Sri. Vayala Idiculla and Mor Clemis Abraham, Chief Metropolitan of the East and 3rd Metropolitan of Knanaya Samudayam.
During the time of vicarship of Kolath Achen (Fr. Kuriakose Kolath) the construction of renovated St.Marys Salem Knanaya Church, Chingavanam had been started & the construction of the present Delhi St. Mary’s Knanaya Church was started and consecrated during his tenure of 4.5 years of Kolath Achen's vicarship.
Former Vice President of Kerala Council of Churches (KCC) Ivanios Thirumeni also served as the Secretary of Nazareth Asramam, Othera, Thiruvalla & clergy fellowship of Knanaya Samudayam during the time of his priesthood.
