Fr. Nidhin Sunny Vallapurackal

Born on 3 May, 1988 Nidhin Achen is the eldest in the family among the two children’s of Vallapurackal Sunny Joseph and Lissy Sunny his home parish is St. Mary's Knanaya Valiyapally Kallissery. His family is very devout and deeply connected to the Church and that atmosphere shaped his childhood in every way.

Life Journey – From Childhood to Priesthood

He was born and raised in Kallissery, in a home where prayer and church life were part of everyday routine. Parents devotion had a strong influence on him. From a young age he attended all church services with them, and that naturally led him to the altar at the age of 12.

Even though his parents hoped he would pursue a professional course, he felt drawn toward something different. He chose a non professional path because he believed God had a purpose for him. In 2013, joined the MSOT Seminary, trusting that God would guide his steps.

When & How He Became Inclined Towards God’s Service

His interest in God’s service began very early age. Growing up a church life was a natural part of routine because of parent’s devotion. By the age of 12, he began serving as an altar boy and that experience gradually shaped his desire to serve God more deeply.

As he grew older, he felt a strong pull toward the priesthood — a desire to serve God and His people, also to learn and teach the faith and traditions of the Syriac Orthodox Church as well as about the Knanaya community.

Bible verses that reflect his part of journey:

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” — Jeremiah 1:5 “Here am I; send me.” — Isaiah 6:8

These verses have always reminded him that God’s calling is personal, purposeful, and unfolds in His time.
