Biography

E. M. Philip was born on 15 Makaram 1033 to Edavazhickal Mathu and Achambila of Thaiparambu family, Pallamkara. His grandfather was the illustrious priest, Edavazhickal Peelipose.

In 1882, the Knanaya Committee was formed and E. M. Philip was its main architect and the founding Secretary. He laid the foundation stone to build a Bhadrasanam for the Knanaya community. Simultaneously, he served as the Secretary of the Knanaya Association for two decades.

At the request of the then Malankara Metropolitan, Pulikottil Mar Devaniasosis, he left the government service as the Cherthala District School Headmaster to serve the Malankara Sabha. His invaluable and selfless service for the all-round progress of the Malankara Sabha, as its Secretary and the Secretary of the Metropolitan, remains unforgettable.
